Years 11 and 12
In Years 11 and 12 students may opt for Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) or Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (VCAL). In each of these there may be a combination of VCE, VCAL and VET (Vocational Education and Training) studies.
The Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE)
This is a two year certificate that can lead to an ATAR (Australian Tertiary Admission Rank) and university or TAFE studies.

The Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (VCAL)
VCAL is an alternate Year 11 & 12 program designed to provide a different style of learning for senior students whose needs may not be met by VCE alone. A VCAL program is tailored to suit each individual and includes learning in a variety of contexts: school, TAFE, industry and community organisations. VCAL is suited to those who are seeking a vocational pathway and for those who leam best when learning is practical and 'applied'.
VCAL includes literacy and numeracy, personal development skills, work-related skills and a industry-specific skills. Work placements will also be completed by VCAL students.
Vocational Education and Training (VET)
VET programs are vocational studies approved by the Victorian Curriculum Assessment Authority (VCAA) and lead to a nationally recognised qualification, Students in VCE may elect to complete a VET program. VET programs form an integral part of the VCAL courses VET programs can sometimes be provided at the College or students may travel to a TAFE provider where they join students from other schools.

- Certificate lll in Sport & Recreation

Australian School-Based Apprenticeships
Students at Marian College can also do an apprenticeship or traineeship part-time while still at school doing the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) or Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (VCAL).
